Dear God, Thank YOU!

Dear God,

First I want to start this letter by simply saying thank you. And not thank you for the things I normally thank you for like food, shelter, safety and my family. While I am very grateful for those things today I want to specifically thank you for a promise you gave me 3 years ago, a door you opened almost 2 years ago, a question you prompted 5 months ago, and a covenant you fulfilled 31 days ago. Thank you for my Husband.

3 years ago I was heartbroken, confused, and depressed. I knew you put the desire for marriage and a family in my heart. But I was so far from that I couldn't understand what you were doing (My Testimony Video). You told me to trust you. You told me to give you my broken heart, to first let you heal it, then to fill it with you, and THEN you would give it to the man you chose for me. So finally after 26 years of running my own life terribly, romantic and otherwise, I relinquished control to you. God that was the best thing I could have ever done and not just because I got a husband out of the deal. My husband is the icing on an already delicious cake. I spent a whole year falling so in love with you God that I refuse to even imagine a life absent of you. A year of nothing but me and you (God). This is the first time since probably 13 there was no boy or man in my life to steal focus and take my attention away from you. God it was so amazing and I will never forget how loved, fulfilled, and content I was just being in love with you. If it had not been for my broken heart I would have never have met the first real love of my life. God thats you!

I remember listening to a sermon and it spoke about asking you specifically for what I wanted with boldness and confidence because you are a God who is powerful enough to deliver on your promises. I still had the deep down desire for a husband and a family. Only this time God, I wanted you to do the picking. I decided to be more detailed this time so I would know it was you who sent him. I wrote down a list with as many details as I could be. I'm talking specifics. Not just that he loves God and has a job. I wrote kind, romantic, generous, TALL (πŸ˜‚), RESPONSIBLE (yes LORD), prays with me, compromising, ambitious, etc. I wrote down AT LEAST 30 qualifications. This list was intense to say the least πŸ˜‚. I wrote it down and taped it on my prayer wall in January 2016. I didn't want to rush you so I said in your timing and I continued my love affair with you.

The first time I spoke with Ken was February 2016. 1 month after my written prayer was our first phone conversation. This phone call was not intended to be a hook up. The conversation was not about dating each other. Neither one of us had that in mind but God, you had other plans. A friend suggested we talk because they knew we had a similar story. They just wanted us both to have someone who could understand. But that phone conversation was a game changer. We unexpectedly spent hours talking to each other. He was so easy to talk to. And surprisingly God, he talked so highly of you. God you already had it planned to a T, didn't you? When I was crying and hopeless one year before you had already worked it out. You were just waiting for the right moment. He was EVERYTHING on my list (minus living in Chicago but I wont dwell on that to much πŸ™„πŸ˜‚). PLUS his story was so similar to mine it almost scared me. God you gave me a man who had been through what I had been through so he understood my pain and heartbreak but also my love and commitment to you. God you are something else! πŸ˜‚ You are so much better at writing an awesome love story than I ever was.

1 month ago (31 days to be exact) I said 'I Do' to a man that was literally my answered prayer. God you hand selected him just for me. So any doubts or fears of failure are eased because God you don't make mistakes. Ken is such a blessing. Kind, loving, compassionate, encouraging, hardworking, compromising, thoughtful, prays with me, AND he's tall WITH a beard πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ˜‚. Now I am not saying he is perfect God. If you could talk to him about folding the clothes after he washes everything in the house, that would be great 😫. But he is wonderful and I love him. I am so grateful!

In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!

Ken, baby thank you for being a wonderful husband. Thank you for pointing me back to God when I get off track. Thank you for being patient with me and forgiving me when I am being a brat. And thank you for praying with and for me. You are amazing. I know God has big plans for us that are bigger than the two of us. This is a union with purpose. He is going to do amazing things through you and us, so lets keep chasing God and watch him work. πŸ˜˜

P.S. Oh and thank you for the dope wedding too God. We literally planned it in 3 months. Because we did it on such short noticed we only invited just 60 of our closest family. We know if it had not been for you on our side we would have been at the courthouse. 😫 Here is a list of the team I had helping me. They were amazing and I highly recommend them all for your events!
