Philly Wedding Photographer | Solomon & Sandra's Wedding Day
On June 16th 2019, I photographed my very first Philadelphia wedding. It has been quite the transition for me expanding Janelle Jaqueline Photography from Chicago to the East Coast. But honestly I could not have picked a better couple than Sandra & Solomon to begin my transition with. They are literally two of the nicest people I have ever met. But the irony is that neither one of them even lives in Philly. Back in January when we had our first conversation via FaceTime I found out they both actually live in California, but are from Philadelphia. So it only made sense to have their wedding in a familiar place where many of their family and friends already live.
These two tied the knot in the beautiful garden at Merion Tribute House just outside the city. That’s right, they had an outdoor June garden wedding. Does it get any more perfect than that? But honestly the week leading up to the wedding didn’t seem so perfect. There was a prediction of rain all week and as much we were all hoping the prediction would somehow change the morning of, that is not what happened. As I made my drive from Delaware from Philly the morning of their wedding looking at the grey sky I had the full expectation that their beautiful garden wedding would most likely be moved in doors. 😩 But to my excitement, when I got there their team was setting up for both an indoor and outdoor scenarios. And if you know me at all you know that I’m all about having a plan B. 🙌🏾 So I (and everyone else there) started silently praying for the rain to hold off until after the ceremony. And as you can see, it did! 😆And I am not exaggerating when I say that it did not hold up a second longer. As soon as cocktail hour was over and the last guest made it into the building for the reception, the rain literally just poured down. 😱Talk about an answered prayer. The timing was so perfect. Not one guest got wet but I have a feeling that with this group it wouldn’t have mattered. They were to busy celebrating and dancing the night away.
Y’all I am not exaggerating when I say that this was one of the most calm wedding days I’ve ever photographed. We were actually ahead of schedule most of the day and everyone was in such a good mood so I was one happy photographer. 😆One thing that these two told me early on is that it was important for them to enjoy time with their loved ones, some of which flew in from overseas to be there. So keeping that in mind made it easier to organize their day. So when most weddings are kind of on a time crunch rushing to hurry and finish photos between the ceremony and reception because they opted to do a first look. That allowed them to do all of their formal photos early before their ceremony. Which also meant that they had more time to really enjoy their guests during cocktail hour and the reception. But the main reason that this was such a relaxed wedding day is that this pair has such a calm energy. No Bridezillas or Groomzillas at this wedding. Sandra and Solomon are really are Bride and Groom #WeddingDayGoals.
One of my favorite parts of their day would have to be their first look. Sandra and Solomon are the sweetest couple ever so witnessing them seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day was EVERYTHING!
The only thing more beautiful than Sandra & Solomon’s wedding day, is the love and joy that filled the room. Their families are from completely different parts of the world but they were all so excited and happy to be apart of their day. It’s a complete testament to how awesome Sandra and Solomon are. I am so happy they choose me to be apart of this beautiful occassion. And I wish them a lifetime of love, joy and blessings!
