Chicago Maternity Photography | The Helaku Family

I am so excited about this weeks blog! You guys know how much I love Maternity Photography. It's my absolute favorite thing to photograph. There is nothing like the love, joy and excitement of a family expecting a new little one. And the Helaku family did not disappoint. Shanika and I actually went to high school together, so it was so nice to catch up with her and meet her beautiful family!

Every once in awhile a photographer has what can only be described as a perfect photo session. This session was definitely one of those for me. This family has such a natural energy about them that made photographing them a breeze. Even her 2 year old son, Kavi, was camera ready.

Shanika wears pregnancy so effortlessly and makes pregnancy look like a breeze. She is actually one of the few people who made me less nervous about the experience (but thats still won't be for a long while guys lol). Considering she is actually a Doula who helps people deliver their babies naturally, her calm nurturing spirit is perfect for that job. She is also a breastfeeding advocate. So one of the goals of this session was to not only captured the beauty of pregnancy and breastfeeding but to also encourage other people during this chapter of their lives.

Did I mention that the Helaku's are waiting until the baby is born to find out the sex? I love this! With the new trend of Gender Reveals ( <- don't worry I love those too) no one ever waits anymore. I think waiting until the baby is here is a fun surprise for the whole family!

I really don't think this family could get any cuter but I'm sure Baby Helaku will defy the impossible. Congratulations again guys! I can not wait to meet the new little Helaku!
